Bottles everywhere. Money on the floor. Irresistible bodies hugging the poles of lust. She wants to tease but she won’t let you touch. Some call them paradise, some say they’re the gentlemen’s club. You read that right, we’re talking strip clubs.
Thank you for stumbling upon How Big Are They and today, we are going to strip down every little secret to reveal how big strip clubs are! Prepare your lap… Mind.. I meant mind!
With a massive revenue of more than $75 billion, strip clubs are bigger than Google AND MasterCard combined. In fact, they are almost five times bigger than Facebook. And the industry is only growing. Between 1997 and 2010, the United Kingdom saw a 1000% growth in the number of strip clubs. As it turns out, a new strip club opened every 7 days in the UK in 2008. Literally, a new strip club would open before the latest movie could hit the nearest theater.
Okay, so strip clubs have been growing rapidly but how many are there? Well, in the US alone, the estimated number of strip clubs are more than 4,000. That doesn’t sound like much until you realize that there are more strip clubs in the US than there are McDonalds in Germany, Australia, UK and India combined.
At the end of the day, there wouldn’t be any strip clubs if there were no strippers. Fortunately, for the entire humanity, this is not a problem. In fact, more than 400,000 strippers are employed by clubs all around the world. To put it into perspective, Facebook, Coca-Cola, Apple and Microsoft TOGETHER have 375,275 employees. Surprising, isn’t it?
So, how does it all happen? How do strip clubs make such money and how much do they pay the strippers? Well, actually, clubs pay them nothing. Strippers pay the clubs to work. People pay the strippers to twerk. Let me explain.
Strippers, unlike regular employees, are not paid by the clubs. Think of it like a Google employee paying Google a part of his earnings for using their office space and machines. Similarly, strippers pay the clubs for providing them an environment where they can add value to this world, in their own little way.
“I congratulate the women who make more money than I do out of a job they say they enjoy.”
7/10 strippers say that despite all the troubles, they are highly satisfied with their jobs. And why wouldn’t they be when they earn blind money? How much do they make then? On average, a stripper earns around $75,000 every single year. On the other hand, a 25+ year old woman with a Master’s degree makes only about $47,730. Still not convinced? A US Attorney, on average, makes $74,000 a year. Sounds decent now, doesn’t it? Some premium strippers can make as much as $2,000 a night for 3-4 nights a week. Guess they don’t really need Bill Gates making it rain at them, do they? If there was a country with only strippers, based on the income, it would be the fifth richest country in the world, richer than USA, Germany, France and UK. Also, fun fact, in some states in US, strippers can get breast implants and save some money by showing it as a “work expense”.
I was going to title this as. “Strippers: How Big Are They?” but quickly realized that it didn’t sound right. But, seriously, think what you may of strippers and strip clubs, this is one huge industry, even bigger than I expected. I was truly surprised by the massive size of it and I am sure you too must be. What surprised you the most? Leave it down in the comments below. Share it with your friends to spread the love!
