Life is beautiful. It is full of surprises. It is also full of coincidences. You must have experienced some and so have I. While beautiful, life also has a creepy side. And on this creepy side of life lie the creepiest events and as a result, some of the biggest coincidences.
This is How Big Are They and here is a list of 7 biggest coincidences that will leave your hair raised for days!
#1 Two Brothers and One Unfortunate Driver
In July 1975, the death of a 17-year-old Erskine Lawrence Ebbin caused a massive hysteria. Why, you may ask? Well, he was hit by a taxi while riding in moped in Hamilton, Bermuda.
You might have another question: “So what?”
People went crazy because only the year before, his brother, also 17-year-old at the time, was also killed. How? By a taxi. While? While riding the same moped. On the same street.
But of course, mopeds and two wheelers, in general, are not all that safe, especially on busy roads, are they?
Here is where it gets weird:
The two brothers were killed on the same street.
While riding the same moped.
By the same taxi.
Driven by the same driver.
Carrying the SAME passenger.
#2 Twins Separated At Birth, Or Were They Really?
It is said that twins often share an incomparable bond. They can sense what their other half is feeling, thinking and experiencing without even communicating with each other. Amazing, right? The story of these two twins is one better than being merely amazing. It’s remarkable.
Two little baby boys were put up for adoption as soon as they came to this world. They were adopted by two different families who had absolutely nothing to do with each other. They had never even seen each other but each twin was informed that they were adopted and had a brother.
After forty long years, one of them, called James, went on a search to find his long-lost brother.
Once reunited, he found:
1. The other brother was also named James.
2. They were both good artists and had a thing for carpentry.
3. They both provided their services to law enforcement.
4. Both their wives were called Linda.
5. Both had divorced their respective Lindas. Wives, I mean wives.
6. They both gave marriage another shot.
7. Both their new wives were called Betty.
8. They both had one son each.
9. One son was called James Allan while the other was known as James Alan.
10. They also had a pet dog. Both were called “Toy”.
A remarkable coincidence really, isn’t it?
#3 Twin Deaths
Before you conclude that having a twin brother is really amazing, hear this one out.
Two twin brothers took birth in 1932 in Northern Finland. Seventy years laters, one of the twin brothers died in a road accident in the same country. While riding his bike, he collided with a lorry in Raahe, Finland.
Accidents happen every day, right? Well, what’s weird about this is that on the very same day, the other brother had also died. On the same road, just 1.5 km from the spot where his brother was killed.
“This is simply a historic coincidence. Although the road is a busy one, accidents don’t occur every day. It made my hair stand on end when I heard about the two were brothers and identical twins at that. It came to mind that perhaps someone from upstairs had a say in this,” police officer Marja-Leena Huhtala said.
#4 The Revenge of a Brother
No, this is not about two brothers again. This is better. You will see how.
In 1883, a guy called Henry Ziegland told his girlfriend that he has had enough and broke up with her. The depressed girl committed suicide shortly after. As you would expect, her brother didn’t take too kindly to this. He was so mad at Ziegland that he tracked him down and shot him dead. Or at least that’s what he believed. Convinced that his sister’s culprit was dead, he also committed suicide by shooting himself.
Turns out, Ziegland didn’t actually die. The bullet just scratched his face and lodged into the tree behind him.
Unaware of this fact, many years later, Ziegland tried to cut down the same tree. It was so big that he couldn’t do it just by himself. So he thought it would be a good idea to blow it up with some dynamite.
He lit up the dynamite and of course, the tree went down. Good idea indeed, or was it?
You see, due to the explosion, that very bullet launched in the air and hit Ziegland right in the head, killing him. As that brother tried to do many years before.
Moral of the story? Never blow up a tree with dynamite. No, but seriously, please don’t hurt others. Especially if they have guns.
#5 Lightning Never Strikes Twice… Or Does It?
Right, so no brother is involved in this story at all. Probably because to these people, nature was like, “F*ck you people in particular!”
Just a year before 1900, a man was enjoying a nice rainy evening in the backyard of his home in Taranto, Italy. The weather quickly got rough but before the man could move back inside, he was hit by a bolt of lightning and died on the spot.
Of course, it must have been difficult for his son to his father pass way like that. Nonetheless, years passed, and the son was enjoying another nice evening at the very same spot thirty years after his father had died. Well, another bolt of lightning hit the man who died on the spot.
Where it gets even weirder is that on the 8th of October of 1949, a man named Rolla Primarda was enjoying yet another nice evening. Now any normal person would not dare to go anywhere near the spot where two people had previously died but Primarda had other ideas. What followed next? He was also killed at the very same place by yet another bolt of lightning.
Who was Rolla Primarda? The son of the second victim and the grandson of the first.
Like father, like son? Or should I say, like grandfather, like father, like son? Whatever it is, it runs in the blood.
#6 I Am You, Your Highness!
This coincidence is as grand as it gets. Legend has that late in the 19th century, the King of Italy, King Umberto I, went to a local restaurant to have an Italian feast. He was accompanied by General Emilio Ponzia-Vaglia to this royal dinner.
This particular night, the owner of the restaurant himself came to take the order of the King and his General. Probably because he knew what might happen if he could be face to face with the king of his land. And indeed, the two men discovered great similarities with each other on their fateful encounter. What were they?
1. Both the king and the owner looked identical, both by face and their build.
2. They were born in the same town.
3. Not just the same town, they were both born on the same day. And they shared the same year. (March 14th, 1844).
4. Like the twins earlier in this list, these two identical people also married two different women with the same name, Margherita.
5. The day Umberto I was crowned the King of Italy was the same day when his counterpart opened his restaurant.
6. And, to top it all, the restaurant owner was shot dead in an accident on July 29th, 1900. Hours later, the king was assassinated too.
What’s with all these coincidences and deaths, man?
#7 A Coincidence Recorded In Pictures
This is the dessert of coincidences, hence, serving it at the end. It was the summer of 1914 in Strasbourg, Germany when a mother photographer her infant son and dropped the film at a store to be developed. It is important to know here that film plates were sold individually during those days.
Unfortunately for the mother and the entire planet really, World War I broke out soon after and the woman gave up any hopes of getting the pictures back.
Two years into the war, over 100 miles away in Frankfurt, she was blessed with another baby – this time a daughter. Needless to say, she bought a new film plate to capture her daughter.
By now you know where this is going, don’t you?
When she got the developed film back, it wasn’t what she was expecting. It isn’t what you are expecting either.
Turns out, the film she hoped would develop into a beautiful picture of her daughter, actually turned out to be a double exposure. In other words, her daughter’s picture was superimposed on someone else’s picture. Who was it? Yes, her then infant son.
The film she had lost all hopes of getting back ever, as fate would have it, was never developed, mislabeled as new and got sold back to her. Talk about completing a full circle?
Speaking of completing a full circle, that’s the end of the list. I am sure at least one of these coincidences got you wondering just how could it be possible. Well, anything is possible. After all, it is a huge world. Or rather, a very small world, as we have seen from these events.
